Crafting American Single Pot Still Whiskey

Rare & Limited

Single Pot Still whiskey is a style of whiskey not typically distilled outside of Ireland, especially in America. While this style was born in the 18th century as a defiant response to malt taxes, we embrace it today as a bold response to typical “American style” mass-produced whiskeys.

The Art of Single Pot Still Whiskey

Single Pot Still whiskey is a legendary style, historically defined by its unique mash bill of malted and unmalted (raw) barley. This combination, traditionally distilled in copper pot stills, creates a spirit that is remarkably creamy and full-bodied, possessing a distinctively spicy and thick, velvety texture that sets it apart from standard single malts.

At Branch Point, we’ve taken this historic blueprint and reimagined it through an Oregon lens. By using locally grown Oregon barley and traditional double pot distillation, we capture that signature robust mouthfeel while letting our unique style and the unique terroir of the Willamette Valley provide a flavor profile found nowhere else in the world.

Pushing the Boundaries: Rare & Limited Expressions

At Branch Point, we don't just follow tradition; we use it as a springboard for innovation. Our commitment to the bold spirit of Single Pot Still whiskey has inspired us to push the envelope of what this defiant category can truly achieve. This relentless pursuit of flavor has led to the creation of our Rare & Limited distillery-exclusive releases.

These small-batch bottlings represent our most adventurous work—whiskeys without boundaries that continue to celebrate the creamy, spicy hallmarks of the Single Pot Still style while exploring new frontiers of maturation and grain expression. Each release is a unique "branch point" in our distilling journey, offered exclusively at our tasting room for those who seek a whiskey that is as rare as it is authentic.

What is Madeira? It is a fortified wine made in the Madeira Islands, a territory of Portugal off the coast of Africa. The wine is affected by the tropical heat of the islands during maturation and often has a flavor profile that includes dried fruit, toffee, nuttiness and spice.
