Crafting American Single Pot Still Whiskey

The Peated

Single Pot Still whiskey is a style of whiskey not typically distilled outside of Ireland, especially in America. While this style was born in the 18th century as a defiant response to malt taxes, we embrace it today as a bold response to typical “American style” mass-produced whiskeys.

The Art of Single Pot Still Whiskey

Single Pot Still whiskey is a legendary style, historically defined by its unique mash bill of malted and unmalted (raw) barley. This combination, traditionally distilled in copper pot stills, creates a spirit that is remarkably creamy and full-bodied, possessing a distinctively spicy and thick, velvety texture that sets it apart from standard single malts.

At Branch Point, we’ve taken this historic blueprint and reimagined it through an Oregon lens. By using locally grown Oregon barley and traditional double pot distillation, we capture that signature robust mouthfeel while letting our unique style and the unique terroir of the Willamette Valley provide a flavor profile found nowhere else in the world.

Introducing Peat in a more approachable way

There is a distinct magic that happens when the rugged spirit of the Pacific Northwest meets the ancient, smoky traditions of Scotland. The Peated: Oregon Whiskey is born from that exact intersection, crafted specifically to be your companion on cold winter evenings by a crackling fire. We sought to bottle the essence of a coastal refuge, blending the deep agricultural roots of our local farms with old-world heritage by harmonizing locally grown unmalted barley with 20% heavily peated Scottish malt sourced directly from the legendary Bairds Malt in Scotland.

To honor this unique 100% barley mash bill, we rely on the patience of traditional craftsmanship. The spirit is double pot distilled to build a rich, heavy body, then laid to rest for a minimum of 5 years in charred American Oak barrels. Bottled at a warming 92 proof (46% ABV), we let the whiskey speak entirely for itself. It is proudly non-chill filtered, completely free of additives or artificial flavorings, and boasts a beautiful, natural color drawn straight from the wood.

The resulting pour doesn't just warm your chest—it tells a story with every sip. On the nose, it opens gently with a teasing hint of distant smoke that draws you in without overwhelming the senses. The palate delivers a surprising, bright flash of lemon zest that quickly gives way to the nostalgic, comforting ash of a beach bonfire, all beautifully rounded out by the deep, resonant sweetness of dark stone fruits. It is the ultimate winter whiskey, perfectly designed to help you thaw out and unwind after a long day.
